Lanvin Pre-fall Collection 2011
"This isn't about Marilyn Monroe moving to India and having an acid trip," states Alber Elbaz about his pre-fall collection at the Bowery Hotel in New York. It’s all about women wearing more evening clothes during the day so why not incorporate it into this line, as Elbaz states "So many women are getting into evening dressing during the day, and I thought there was something quite flamboyant about it, I see less and less people are going out at night. So I think a lot of women are wearing those evening gowns during the day.”
Gorgeous knits mixed with a ivory satin evening dress tapered loosely at the waist with a black gemstone statement necklace, black and navy dresses with accented ruffled collars and one particular black dress cut in a scuba fabric draped in pearls and for that youthful touch we see ribbed tights, thermal long johns and printed silk scarves, adding heels to the end of the equation.
My favourite – the seventies inspired gown, with a low V, printed waist sash and headscarf in different prints and all that fur!
Here are some pics from the lookbook.

Blake Lively and Chanel
Karl Lagerfield's sweet obsession with rising star Blake Lively has led her to become the new face of Chanel's Mademoiselle handbags. Photographed by none other than Mr Lagerfield himself, the campaign was shot recently at Chanel's venerable Rue Cambon headquarters and is set to be released in mid March this year. Lively will join the fellow actresses before her such as Diane Kruger and Anna Mouglali and she states in Vogue, "A dream come true is an understatement, I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around."
I cannot wait for the pictures to arrive!

A New Year, a New closet
Ah yes, the beginning of a new year - New beginnings, new adventures, a new wardrobe! Being the shopaholic that I am I add at least 2-3 items of new clothing into my wardrobe nearly everyday. I do say I may have some sort of addiction but hey who doesn't? I haven't emptied my wardrobe in awhile that it's starting to overcrowd so a good spring clean is needed asap! So many items will need to be scouted, picked and removed.
I've also said to myself that I would limit myself to how much items of clothing I would buy each time I made my daily visit to the shop and try and hold off until my America trip coming up in February (Yeah!), but sometimes I give in to the on sale Zimmerman swimsuit and Mimco sandals that would go well my other Zimmerman playsuit...I can't help it, it's that little voice in the back of my head that tells me I need it and I start putting outfits together in my head that will suit that particular item I'm thinking about purchasing, argh. With that being said there is always a rule of thumb when it comes to buying new items for your wardrobe - You buy new clothes, you get rid of old clothes i.e You buy three t-shirts you get rid of three old t-shirts! Simple huh?
So, new year I promise I won't buy anymore until America! PROMISE!

Chloë Sevigny's third collection for Opening Ceremony
An actress and now a fashion designer, Chloë Sevigny has showed off her third collection from Opening Ceremony. Very nineties inspired - think Perky, casual, downtown meets preppy school girl chic. Consisting of five dress silhouettes featuring in five prints i.e leopard, paisley, polka dot, floral and houndstooth, Sevigny makes tribute to eighties provocateur and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe by using his imagery within her collection. From babydoll dresses to school girl pinafore's with a Peter Pan collar, I just love the mixing of prints such as the blue dress with white polka dots mixed with a leopard print sleeve mixed with grey tights and a floral beret, but the stand outs are the cropped knits and accessories especially the shoes in which Sevigny collaborated with nineties footwear NaNa to reissue and reinvent some classic styles. Sevigny's third collection is now ready for presale, so get your credit cards out, this is one line you don't want to miss! Check out her lookbook below.
